The pronoun 人家 (rén jiā) is often used in spoken Chinese.
As we all known,人(rén) means people, 家( jiā) means home and family.
So, what does 人家 mean?
人家 is mainly used in 3 ways:
1. Others
It refers to persons other than the speaker and the listener.
Wǒ ɡàosu nǐ yíɡè mìmi, búyào ɡàosu rénjiā!
我告诉你一个秘密,不要告诉人家!
I'll tell you a secret. Don't tell others!
2. He, she or they
It refers to a person or persons other than the speaker and the listener,
both of whom know the person or persons.
A: Nǐ de shìyǒu ne?
你 的 室 友 呢?
Where are your roommates?
B: Rénjiā qù túshū guǎn le.
人 家 去 图书馆 了。
They went to the library.
3. Myself
It refers to the speaker, and is usually used by female speakers.
A: Jià ɡěi wǒ bɑ!
嫁 给 我 吧!
Would you marry me?
B: Rénjiā háiméi xiǎnɡhǎo ne!
人 家 还 没 想 好 呢!
